Both companies are working in complementary sectors of the engineering field. DND Consultants are covering critical electrical and mechanical infrastructures for data centers, TV distribution and telecom providers. As for XMF Consultants, they mainly carry out institutional projects with a strong experience in mechanical systems and energy efficiency.

“This merger seals the connection between two dynamic companies looking for new ways to evolve in the context of an industry confronted with a shortage of skilled labor. Today, we are increasing our strike force and can offer complete services under tight deadlines, “said Ronald Desparois, President of the DND Consultants. “Our mechanical department will be able to respond even more quickly to complex customer issues.”

“XMF Consultants was at a stage where growth was needed to meet the demands of satisfied customers who want us to be involved in larger projects,” commented Marc Forcier, engineer and President of XMF Consultants. “The merger with DND Consultants makes it possible. The range of services offered to our traditional customers will increase.”

The new entity will be known as “Les Consultants DND” and will have its offices at the following three locations:

Another project (253,000 sq. ft.), result of our partnership with Urbacon, was inaugurated in September: the “Data Center Montréal” – Constructo Portal – Le nouveau Centre de données de Montréal.

Among others, the center was announced by:

We are pleased to introduce our new colleague, a building mechanical engineer, Mr. Chokri Jellazi, P.Eng. Mr. Jellazi has extensive experience in engineering and management of projects and realized along his career interest projects in various sectors of infrastructure and construction. After working for Laporte Consultants and SNC Lavalin, Mr. Jellazi joined our team in mid-October. We welcome him!

Recently, the electrical team was strengthened by the arrival of François St-Onge, an electrical engineer with strong knowledge in automation and significant experience in generators.

His knowledge of ETAP software is also an important asset of the profile of our new colleague.

The 20th of April 2016, Mr. Shuji Nakamura, the inventor of the high output blue LED, Nobel Prize for Physics in 2014, has presented a conference in Montreal. His speech explained the evolution of the LED and announced the new generation of LED, the violet one, which will permit the emission of a full-spectrum white light. Mr. Nakamura presented this new product of its own company (Soraa) that (among others) will fix the blue light issue of the actual white-light emitting diode – Mr. Nakamura explained that the blue light is impacting the human circadian rhythm and is connected to a series of health disorders and even to some types of cancer.
Mr. Mihai Pecingina, electrical engineer with DND Consultants, President of IDA (International Dark-Sky Association) Quebec and Vice-President of IES (Illuminating Engineering Society) Montreal meet Mr. Nakamura: “It was a pleasure to discuss with the inventor of the blue light LED, the base of the new lighting revolution that we’re living today. He gave us a very strong tool, now it’s our turn to use it in the right, intelligent way.” said Mr. Pecingina.
The event was organized by CORIM (Montreal Council on Foreign Relations) and IES Montreal was one of the sponsors. All the Quebec lighting world was present to thanks Mr. Nakamura for his work.

As you might have read, we posted on the “careers” section of our site that we were looking for an engineer in the Mechanical Department.

We are very pleased to announce that Mr. Charles Hudon, mechanical engineer, is joining the DND team. He is certainly very well positioned for the challenge, as he brings with him interesting knowledge and experience – he worked with Hewitt and, before, in the energy efficiency.
Charles, welcome to the team, we look forward to work with you!

May 2016 be full of light, warmth (or cooling, as needed), power and everything else that you need for an … uninterrupted success!

We will continue to put our expertise at the heart of your projects and all our heart to support you.

Best wishes for the New Year!

September 14th: Mr. Ronald Desparois presented his technical conference on the air distribution in data centers to 175 members and guests of the Montreal Chapter of ASHRAE. The presentation was greatly appreciated by those presents. Mr. Desparois with humour, charm and charisma that characterizes him, presented the history of the raised floors and the evolution of the cabinet loads. He resumed the air distribution theory, he spoked in detail about the reality of today’s raised floor and finalized with the market trends in terms of air distribution in data centers. The participants got the answer to the question launched from the first moment of the speech: are the raised floors disappearing? If you want too to find out the fate of the raised floors, contact us!

Some pictures from the event are available on our Facebook.

Mr. Ronald Desparois, President and Director of the Mechanical Department of DND Consultants has been invited by the Montreal Chapter of ASHRAE to present a technical conference during the first technical supper of the fall.

On next September 14th, Mr. Desparois will present the first of a series of three workshops on a vast subject: The impact of the air distribution on the PUE data center. This first strand (entitled “Raised floors in data centers: are they endangered?”), begins the portrait of this world in motion. The mass-market of smartphones (cellular telecommunication), the arrival of the IP communications (network and telecom), the online shopping (cloud solutions / colocation), or shortly the universalization of the use of IT services, have had a direct impact on the increase of the capacity requirements in data centers.

To meet these new needs, the number of kilowatts per cabinet is increasing constantly making the community and the society react. The PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) has become the sinews of war in the data center industry, forcing the review of the traditional ways to do the air distribution and the performances of the HVAC systems.

PUE is mainly affected by two factors: the IT equipment’s efficiency and the infrastructure’s (electrical and mechanical) output.

The conference will be presented at the St. James Club of Montreal. The participants attending for the whole evening (from 5:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) will get a certificate attesting 1.75 hours of continuing education. For more details please see the website of Montreal Chapter of ASHRAE.

The DND team is expanding with the arrival of Genevieve Belleau – designer in mechanical building systems.

Genevieve has worked for many years in mechanical building systems specializing in data centers. She is very familiar with Revit. Her knowledge, motivation and enthusiasm are undeniable assets for our team. The fact that she has already worked in other companies with the majority of current DND Consultants’ staff, make the transition and accommodation effortless.

We want to welcome her and wish her a successful and long stay with DND Consultants!

Starting today, you can benefit from all our news in an improved, more dynamic form, carried out with the help of the Brand Creative Director Greg Benanti (http://gregb.ca/).

This new tool was created to better meet the communication needs in the wake of changes that Consultants DND are living. Moved for less than a year on boul. St-Elzéar Ouest, involved in several major projects, the team continues to grow.

A “Career” section was therefore added to allow new talent to join forces with the current group.

For those who know us less or not at all, the “Home” and “About us” sections are presenting our mission, our values and our approach as outlined by the partners Ronald Desparois Abdullah Naim-Zadeh, François Ferron and Francis Descoteaux.

Soon, on the “Services” page you will discover for each activity area a list of the clients who have benefited from the services of one or more of the professionals now working under the name of DND Consultants.

And to facilitate the rapid and direct contact, you can find on the site full details of the management team. The telephone numbers are direct and the email addresses are sent directly to the devices regularly consulted by our executives.

We welcome your feedback and suggestions and, of course, do not hesitate to provoke our professionals with projects that discourage others! You will always have quickly the right answer and dedicated, customized services!
